Cnr Khumalo & Pela Streets, Orlando West, Soweto Tel: 011 536 2253

The photo of a young man carrying the critically injured 13 year old Hector Pieterson in the 1976 uprising, captured the attention of people throughout the world. That Student Uprising changed the course of South African history. This new museum opened in 2002, has photographic and audio-visual displays of the struggle of the youth against the injustices of apartheid. The memorial to this boy is situated in Khumalo Street a few hundred metres from where he was shot.
